Abstract
The purposes of this study are to investigate differences in health, social-economic resources among the elderly and the different age groups, to examine how social-economic resources influence on health among the elderly as compared to different age groups, and to find out its implications. Data were collected from 7 metropolitan cities including Seoul and 8 provinces, and a total of 1,216 adults (406 persons aged 20-44, 405 persons aged 45-64, and 405 persons aged above 65) were analyzed. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple regression analysis are used to examine data. Health, social-economic resources were significantly lower in older age groups, but trust was significantly higher in the elderly age group. We found that self-rated health and physical functioning among different age groups were influenced separately by different factors. Especially, participation in activity with family and friends is significant in elderly age group. Based on the result, we discussed the role of resources for promoting health of elderly people, and provided practical implication for social policy.
